After a rather embarrassing whitewash by Australia, Pakistan’s coach Micky Arthur has a lot to ponder upon especially with the World Cup 2019 just around the corner. In a recent media talk, Micky discussed the upcoming tournament in detail and also highlighted who is his favorite to win the Cricket World Cup 2019.

Micky Arthur reveals his top team

It didn’t came as much of a surprise when Micky Arthur declared his home side, Australia as the favorites for the mega championship. He said:

“I definitely think they are [capable of winning the World Cup]. They’re traveling really well. All the final jigsaw parts are coming together nicely. Australia looks a very, very good side. They will be a threat at the World Cup.”

Arthur also pointed out the key players for Australia who could either make or break the championship for their side. According to the head coach, Steve Smith and Warner are expected to make a strong comeback. In addition to this, some feisty performances by Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell could just seal the deal for the Aussies.

“You get Warner and Smith back, you put Starc and Cummins back into that line-up. It’s pretty formidable,” added Arthur.

Emerging as a formidable side

Australia is undoubtedly emerging as a formidable side. First they defeated Virat Kohli’s incredible unit by 3-2 which was also Australia’s first series win in India since 2009. They then romped to a 5-0 rout of a depleted Pakistan who rested six top players for the series played in the United Arab Emirates. Almost all their players gave unbelievable performances including captain Aaron Finch who was declared Man of the Match is consecutive ODIs against Pakistan and scored 451 runs in just one series.

Is it that easy ?

Despite such huge number of victories, one can’t be certain of Australia winning the World Cup. Currently Australia is on the 5th position in the ODI rankings for men. The team does have star performers but one cannot ignore the fact that there are many strong teams ready to compete, mainly India, New Zealand, England and Pakistan. Therefore it won’t be easy to grab the title, only the best will get a chance to take the glorious trophy home. Last time it was Australia who became the champion, let’s see who wins this time!

We wish all the teams best of luck!
