Pakistani cricketers are often in the news for attending parties and dawats where they are feasted with all kinds of meals and whatnot. With World Cup 2019 coming ahead, the cricketers need to focus more on their fitness than savoring their taste buds. Former World Cup-winning cricketer and former captain, Wasim Akram has lashed out at current players for not taking care of their diets ahead of the mega event.
Biryani Before World Cup
With already a lot of talk around players’ fitness, the legend’s remarks raise further questions. Pakistan team’s fitness came under severe criticism against Australia where they fielded poorly and dropped a few easy catches.
“Players are still being served biryani, you cannot compete against champions by feeding them biryani.”

He further added that this year’s World Cup will be played on the same format as 1992, which Pakistan won, and that “you cannot win this World Cup with a fluke, you have to play well“.
The 52-year-old added that Mohammad Amir is a world-class bowler and that he sees a future captain in him. This comes as a huge statement from the former cricketer as Amir’s place in the side is under severe scrutiny following a poor last year with the ball, especially in the limited overs formats.
