As the World Cup 2019 draws nears, the news regarding the squads are coming in more frequently and now Cricket South Africa has also announced their team for World Cup 2019.

The squad is more or less same with which they experimented in the last couple of series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Faf du Plessis, the regular captain, will be leading South Africa at the mega event while de Kock is the first-choice wicket-keeper.

The Squad

  1. Faf du Plessis (c)
  2. Quinton de Kock (wk)
  3. Hashim Amla
  4. Aiden Markram
  5. Rassie van der Dussen
  6. David Miller
  7. JP Duminy
  8. Dwayne Pretorius
  9. Andiel Phehlukwayo
  10. Dale Steyn
  11. Kagiso Rabada
  12. Lungi Ngidi
  13. Anrich Nortje
  14. Imran Tahir
  15. Tabraiz Shamsi

Amla, Duminy & Steyn All In

While there were questions surrounding the inclusion of Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, and Dale Steyn, all three have made it to the team which will fly to England ahead of the World Cup which starts on 30th May.

Pacers Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje, who were to play at the IPL but missed it due to injuries, are also back in the national colors. The spin department will be led by Imran Tahir while Tabraiz Shamsi will be the second spinner. With some sub-continent like pitches in England, the services of left-arm Chinaman and right-arm legspinner will come in handy if both are slotted into the playing XI.

South Africa have a knack of crumbling under pressure at the big ICC events, thereby earning them the title of ‘Chokers’, however, they have a strong team this time around and they will be among one of the favorites to clinch the trophy.
