SA vs SL: South Africa announced a new looking squad for ODI series

South African team will be desperate to get back to the form after shocking back-to-back defeats in test cricket, once the limited-overs series of SA vs SL begins. They have announced their squad for first three ODIs for SA vs SL series and the changes mean that some of the places in the squad are still up for the grab for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Sri Lanka have already announced their squad for the ODI series.

The omission of Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla will not be the part of the squad for the first three ODIs of SA vs SL series but Linda Zondi – CSA National Selection Panel convener – said that the players should not consider themselves dropped.

He said:

“Those players who were in the squad against Pakistan but who have been left out this time have not been dropped. We need to use the first part of this series to examine all the options that are available to us. We know, for example, what Hashim Amla has to offer us and he remains a senior member of our squad.”

Return of Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi also booked his place for SA vs SL ODI series after coming back from injury. He sustained a knee injury last year in November against Australia and in result missed the entire series against Pakistan and the test series against Sri Lanka.

Anrich Nortje gets the maiden call-up

South Africa has also included Anrich Nortje who got the attention of the selectors after claiming 8 wickets in 3 games with an impressive economy of 6.91 during last year’s Mzansi Super League.
