PSL 2019: News, Updates and Rumors

The PSL 2019 is around here. With less than 100 days remaining, the excitement is already heating up. More & more news and rumors are popping up with each passing day. The trades are happening, the players’ categories for the draft are being announced, new players signing up for PSL and much more. We have got some interesting news and rumors for PSL 2019 here. Have a look!

Sohail Tanveer Moves to Quetta

The seasoned all-rounder and a T20 specialist Sohail Tanveer will represent Gladiators in PSL 2019.  The 6th team (previously Multan Sultans) traded him with Quetta and in return, they got Quetta’s Diamond pick. They now have 2nd and 3rd consecutive Diamond picks in the draft.

The Gladiators are quite happy to have such an experienced and versatile T20 player on their side. Sohail Tanveer himself is excited for his new journey with Quetta Gladiators in the upcoming edition of PSL.

Afridi Demoted to Silver Category!

Yes, you heard it right! Shaheen Shah Afridi has been demoted from Gold to Silver category by Lahore Qalandars. Shaheen is considered as one of the best finds of PSL. The right-hand fast bowler has shown great form in recent series against Australia and New Zealand.

However, this was a strategical step taken by Lahore Qalandars. By relegating Shaheen to Silver, Lahore now got another slot empty in their Gold category. So, now they can get another Gold category player for them in the draft happening this month.

The Lahore-Quetta Trade

One of the interesting trades has happened between Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars. Umer Akmal and Sunil Narine from Lahore have been traded with Quetta’s Hassan Khan and Rahat Ali. The trade seems quite unfair for Qalandars unless you get to know that Lahore also got the Platinum pick of Quetta Gladiators, which makes sense.

Lahore is most probably aiming to get AB De Villiers on their side. So, after getting Quetta’s Platinum pick, there is a strong indication that Qalandars will go for De Villiers in their Platinum pick.

Shahid Afridi Leaves Karachi Kings

The star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has left Karachi Kings after just playing one season for them. No matter how much he is criticized for his inconsistency, one can’t deny the fact that he still is a match winner. Afridi still can do wonders with both bat and the ball. That’s the reason, he still is valuable for the franchises.

After Kings exit, Afridi will be available in the upcoming draft. He has already played for Zalmi and Kings so now most probably he would be joining a new team. We believe that he might opt to go for Qalandars. However, there isn’t any confirmed news regarding which team will he join.

Multan Sultans Out of PSL?

The PCB has terminated Multan Sultans’ PSL contract after the franchise failed to fulfill the financial terms of the agreement, they had with PCB. It was Schon group who bought Multan Sultans for $5.2 million. Now as they no longer own Multan Sultan, PCB has referred the franchise as “The Sixth Team” till further updates.

Rumor has it that the 6th team will now be from Faislabad. But the details are still not clear on this. We will have to wait to know more.

Corey Anderson Joins PSL 4

The star Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson signs up for PSL 2019. He has been placed in the Platinum category for the draft. The Pakistan Super League official Facebook page made the announcement of his addition on 11 November.

Corey Anderson is an aggressive all-rounder who got the fame after he broke Shahid Afridi’s fastest ODI century record back in 2014. Anderson is also good medium pacer and performs quite well in bowling area. He will be a good option for the franchises in the draft. Let’s see which team will he represent in PSL 4.
