PSL 2019 Match 16: Multan Sultans vs Islamabad United (Pre-Match)

After a one day break, PSL 4 is back to Dubai and will resume today where one match will be played – Multan Sultans vs Islamabad United. Both Islamabad United and Multan Sultans had earlier clashed on February 16 also at the same venue where Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by five wickets.

Team News

Islamabad United had a shaky start but now they are in good position, winning 3 games out of 5 and sitting on 3rd place in the PSL 4 points table. The defending champions got the services of experienced T20 players and they are performing well in both batting and bowling. Luke Ronchi, Faheem Ashraf, Muhammad Musa are in good form and the return of Rumman Raees has further boosted their team. Their skipper Mohammad Sami missed the teams’ last game against Karachi due to injury and will be assessed before the match if he is fully fit or not.

The same cannot be said about the Multan Sultans who are sitting at bottom of the table after losing four games out of five games played. Skipper Shoaib Malik made the highest 168 runs for the team in the first phase of PSL 2019 with the help of 2 half-centuries but the lack of support by their middle and lower order is their main concern. They get a good start almost in every match but finishing the innings is the big issue. They lost Andre Russell but they still had some good players such as Laurie Evans, Shahid Afridi, Dan Christian, Junaid Khan who can turn the match in teams’ favor.
