The second T20 between Pak vs WI women’s team turned out to be quite a thrilling one for the spectators as the result was decided in the super over.
Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and elected to bat first. The team lost an early wicket as Umaima Sohail failed to score runs. The start was quite slow for team green and in 5 overs, Pakistan could hardly manage 17 runs.
Bismah Maroof took the charge from there on; she made 31 runs allowing Pakistan to cross 55 after 10 overs. Pakistan lost another wicket in the very next over but then the decline stopped.
No more wickets fell after that and Pakistan came up to 132 runs at the end of the designated 20 overs.
Windies women who had already won the first T20 by a huge margin came with a lot of confidence. The confidence turned into overconfidence perhaps and Caribbean women lost wickets back and forth.
In 10 wickets Windies could just manage 28 runs.
Shemaine Campbelle provided resistance by scoring 41 massive runs; the match unexpectedly slipped out of Pakistan’s hand and got tied on the last ball. The adrenaline rush peaked as the match entered into the super over.
Unlucky super over
The super over turned out to be extremely unlucky as Windies women thrashed Sana Mir for 19 runs in one over.
Needing 19 to win, Pakistan Women could only muster a single run as both their batters — Aliya Riaz and Nida Dar — faltered under pressure. Unable to chase the target, Pakistan lost a match it rightly deserved to win.
The Windies now have a 2-0 lead in the series.
