KXIP: Fixtures, Tickets and History

Among the current teams, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), along with Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RC) are yet to win Indian Premier League (IPL). Having played all seasons ever since the start of the league in 2008, KXIP has failed to turn out substantial performances, however, anything can happen in franchise cricket and you never know if Ravichandran Ashwin’s team can be the dark horse of IPL 2019.

In Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Lokesh Rahul, David Miller, and Moises Henriques, KXIP has a number of strong hitters of the white cricket ball, whereas Mujeeb ur Rehman, Sam Curran, Mohammad Shami, and Ravi Ashwin are more than capable bowlers to contribute to team’s triumph this year.

KXIP’s IPL History

Kings XI Punjab would want to improve their record in the 12th edition of IPL as the team has finished as runners-up only once in 2014 whereas it was a semi-finalist in the inaugural competition. Other than this, the records present a gloomy picture for the owners, players and the fans alike as the team has finished last three times, 7th once, 6th twice and 5th three times in 11 outings.

The team aims to leave the previous numbers behind and begin a new journey this year and bring home the title. It remains to be seen how the team performs this year. Let’s have a look at the team’s journey in the IPL til now:

Home Ground – IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali

Serving as a home ground for Kings XI Punjab, IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali has a seating capacity of 30,000. Earlier known as the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, IS Bindra Stadium offers good batting conditions most of the time which is the reason why no total is considered safe these days.

The stadium has hosted 25 ODIs, 13 Tests and 4 T20 Internationals including some memorable matches between India and Pakistan; the best one was the Mohali Test in 2005 which is known for Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq’s heroics to draw the test match. Members Block, Chair Block 1 and 2, Student Block 1 and 2, VIP Block and Pavilion blocks make up the layout of the stadium.
