Kolkata Knight Riders are two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions having won the tournament in 2012 and 2014. Led by the Dinesh Karthik, KKR is set to start its campaign this year against Sunrisers Hyderabad with a home game at the Eden Gardens. The schedule of all matches of KKR and the tickets of IPL 2019 is already out.

KKR has once again roped in some big names from around the world including Chris Lynn, Andre Russel, Sunil Narine, Carlos Braithwaite, Lockie Ferguson, and Joe Denly. The bowling is reliant mostly on the local talent led by senior spinners Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav.

KKR’s IPL History

KKR’s IPL journey began when the league was initiated back in 2008 and it has always been an important team in the tournament. The two titles speak for the abilities of the team and this year will be no different as all teams are pretty evenly poised to push for glory.

KKR’s worst return came in the second edition of the league when the team finished last. Since then, the team has been pretty consistent except for 2013 when KKR finished 7th. Here is the overall journey of the KKR in the IPL.

Home Ground – Eden Gardens Kolkata

The oldest cricket stadium in India, Eden Gardens in Kolkata was established way back in 1864. With a capacity of more than 65,000, Eden Gardens is one of the biggest stadiums in the world. It is the biggest stadium in Asia and second biggest after Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia in terms of the capacity.

It is home to Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL and to Bengal cricket team in the domestic cricket. The ground has hosted 30 ODIS, 41 Tests and 7 T20 Internationals. The famous T20 World Cup final in 2016 took place here when the West Indies bagged the silverware for the second time after a tight contest with England. Carlos Braithwaite, remember the name? He does have some fond memories from this stadium which will be his home venue this IPL. The stands are named in alphabetical order from A to L with Club House stands as well.
