It will be the 12th edition of Indian Premier League and every year it is getting bigger and better. With exciting games played during the tournament, everyone wants to keep an eye on what’s happening. For that purpose, the points table is the best way of keeping track of your favorite teams and to predict future outcomes based on the team’s form and previous matches.

IPL 2019 Format

We might see a change in format for this year’s IPL 2019, and instead of traditional ‘Home & Away’ system, we may see matches being played under the caravan format. This format is selected due to unavailability of grounds in some cities due to the general elections. In the caravan format, all teams will move from one host city to another during the tournament.

Points System for Win, Loss, and Draws

Points during the group stages of IPL 12 will be awarded as follow:

  • 2 points for winning a match.
  • both teams will get 1 point each if the match is abandoned.
  • No points for a loss.
  • If there is a tie, the match will be decided through SuperOver.

IPL 2019 Points Table Standings Criteria

Top 4 of the 8 teams will make it to the second round – Playoffs.

The following criteria will determine the standings:

  • The highest number of points.
  • If two or more teams are equal on points, then the team with the higher number of wins will be ranked higher.
  • If 2 or more teams are still equal, then the net run rate and head-to-head will be counted.
