IPL 2019: Match 48 - KXIP & Sunrisers Fight For the Playoffs Position

In today’s match of IPL 2019, it is Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.

This is the final week of the league matches and both teams featuring today are fighting for the playoffs position. Sunrisers sit on 4th position whereas Kings XI Punjab are on 5th, with only net-run-rate separating both teams.

Sunrisers will be looking to capitalize on Kings XI Punjab’s poor away performances as they have lost five out of their last six games in IPL. Their only away win came in their first match of the season, which is now renowned for Ashwin-Butler incident.

Sunrisers have the highest run-rate in the powerplays (9.00) among all the IPL teams. However, they also have the lowest run-rate between the overs 16-20 (8.90).

Team News

Both teams desperately require a victory today as the margin of error continues to grow thinner with each passing game. Kings XI have suffered back-to-back losses and their reliance on KL Rahul and Chris Gayle might be their biggest disadvantage.

For Sunrisers, the return of form for David Warner and Manish Pandey is welcomed. However, the loss of Jonny Bairstow might still be something that can prove to be pivotal. It remains to be seen how Kane Williamsom slots into the side, if he even does.
