The first of today’s two matches, Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Banglore is scheduled at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Playing in front of the home crowd, Delhi are enjoying a good run of form; winning 7 of their last 11 matches.

Delhi’s opposition for tonight are RCB, who have defied elimination which seemed imminent. Still standing tall, Virat Kohli-team needs every win under their belt to survive in order to qualify for the next phase in the IPL.

This is a true battle of the opposite ends: one team is gunning for the top spot whereas the other is avoiding elimination. Who will prevail? Time will tell.

Team News

Unfortunately for RCB, Dale Steyn is out of IPL 2019 after he picked up his shoulder injury, something he has struggled with throughout his career. The injury will not only keep him out from participating in IPL but has also put his World Cup participation in doubt.

In addition to the absence of Steyn, RCB also have to worry about Moeen Ali returning to England. The left-arm batsman proved to be a very useful utility player for them and it remains to be seen how they will cope with these two changes.

Playing XI

The teams are listed below:

Delhi Capitals

Delhi conditions often prove to be slow, which is why Sandeep Lamichhane’s inclusion can prove vital for Delhi. If Delhi wants to fight for the top spot then their opening pair of Dhawan and Shaw needs to step up today.

  1. Prithvi Shaw
  2. Shikhar Dhawan
  3. Shreyas Iyer(c)
  4. Rishabh Pant(w)
  5. Sherfane Rutherford
  6. Colin Ingram
  7. Axar Patel
  8. Kagiso Rabada
  9. Sandeep Lamichhane
  10. Amit Mishra
  11. Ishant Sharma

Royal Challengers Banglore

Much has been said about lack of depth in RCB’s squad but today will be the ultimate test as Dale Steyn and Moeen Ali both are missing from the squad. Can the Kohli-tigers pull off a miracle and qualify after a disastrous opening run in the IPL?

  1. Parthiv Patel(w)
  2. Virat Kohli(c)
  3. AB de Villiers
  4. Marcus Stoinis
  5. Heinrich Klaasen
  6. Shivam Dube
  7. Gurkeerat Singh Mann
  8. Washington Sundar
  9. Navdeep Saini
