Match Report

Rajashtan Royals secured another win and are in the race for the Playoffs. Powered by their in form batting lineup, the team managed to chase down the 161 run target with 5 balls and 7 wickets to spare. All of their bowlers and batsmen managed to take wickets and score runs ensuring an easy victory for their side.

1st Innings: Pandey’s Early Heroics Go In Vain

The openers failed to give the start that Sunrisers Hyderabad wanted as Kane Williamson fell early in the 4th over. Warner stayed at the crease but he never really got going. However, he still managed to score a 75-run partnership with Pandey who smashed a 36 ball 61 without hitting a single six. MK Panedey hit 9 boundaries in firey knock.

Warner scored 37 off 32 deliveries without a single boundary in the whole innings. There were no major contributions from the rest of the team until Rashid Khan came in and slogged 17 from 8 to take his team to a respectable 160/8.

Early Strikes from Gopal & Some Mixed Fielding

Gopal was te pick of the bowlers along with 22-year-ol Oshane Thomas. Gopal made an early strike and controlled the Sunrisers while taking the key wicket of Kane Williamson. When we has brought back into the attack, he took another key wicket, dismissing Pandey for 61 and helping his side make inroads in the Hyderabad batting lineup. Unadkat’s performance is also worth mentioning considering his side gave away nearly 20 runs due to misfields. Unadkat, on the other hand took two stunning catches and was the most economical bowler this evening.

Aaron, Thomas, Gopal and Unadkat, all managed to take two wickets a piece restricting their chase to 161.

2nd Innings: Rahane and Livingstone Make It a Walk in the Park

Rajasthan’s openers managed to score 78 runs in 9 overs, taking the match away from Hyderabad’s control. While Rahane managed a decent 34 ball 39 with a lone six and 4 fours, it was Liam Livingstone’s onslaught which included 7 boundaries including 4 fours. Livingstone managed to get 44 off just 26 balls, ensuring that his the other side was always under the pump. Another 50-run stand between Smith and Samson made sure that Royals don’t lose their way.

Bowlers Lacked the Spirit to Defend a Sub-par Total

While the bowling wasn’t bad, Sunrisers Hyderabad needed more from the bowlers and their fielders. They never felt in control and despite bowling decently, they kept leaking runs. Kaul was picked by the batsman as the weak link in the bowling attack and his stats proved the same.

Lack of boundaries from the top order and Williamson’s early wicket hurt the Sunrisers big in this match.
