The 43rd match of IPL 2019 was played at Eden Gardens today between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. And Jofra Archer stole the show in the last over to keep the hopes of RR alive.

Match Report

It was a treat to watch tonight as the match between KKR and RR turned out to be a tight contest where Rajasthan were victorious in the last over.

1st innings: Excellent start for Rajasthan as Aaron strikes early

Kolkata didn’t have a good start as their opener Chris Lynn was sent back to the pavilion by Varun Aaron in the very first over. Aaron went on taking the other wicket of Shubham Gill with a beautiful in-swinger. He finished his spell with some amazing figures of 2/20 including 17 dots. He was also involved in a catch and a runout.

Captain Karthik brilliant yet unlucky 97 runs

The Kolkata skipper Dinesh Karthik played a phenomenal inning under difficult conditions. Kolkata were 3-42 in 9th over when Karthik came to bat. He started with some sensible shots and kept on adding runs to the team’s scoreboard. It was due to his unbeaten knock of 97 runs that Kolkata added 100+ runs in last 10 over, setting up a decent target of 176.


2nd innings: Rajasthan openers provide a solid start

Rajasthan Royals took their start in some style as their openers Rahane and Samson contributed 50 runs to the team’s total. Rahane then became a victim of Narine’s magical bowling in the 6th over. Chawla got Samson in the very next over.

Piyush Chawla shines with the ball

It was a good day at the office for Chawla as he bowled extremely well in tonight’s match. His economical spell included 3 wickets with just 20 runs in 4 overs.

Parag and Archer winning it for the team

The man of the night was surely Rajasthan’s Parag whose match winning 47 runs helped his team march towards victory. And then Jofra Archer finished in style with a four and a six in the last over winning the match with 3 wickets in hand.

Moment of the match

Moment of the match has to be the second last over where Parag’s much needed six to Russel paved the way for Rajasthan’s win.

Man of the match

Varun Aaron got the man of the match award.

The next match will be between the table toppers Chennai Super Kings and third-ranked Mumbai Indians tomorrow.
