It was yet another emphatic win for the Royal Challengers Bangalore who have finally managed to get off the bottom of the table. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and decided to field first and chase at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The win means that RCB now have 8 points and are still alive in the tournament.

1st Innings: Parthiv Patel Starts Briskly as Kohli Falls

Virat Kohli has had a couple of failures in the past few games and he was unable to get going yet again as Mohammad Shami removed him in the 4th over at team total of 35.

Parthiv Patel continued to look in good form as he posted 43 from 24 balls.

AB Launches Big, Stoinis Helps Finish the Innings

AB de Villiers has looked in sublime form at the IPL this year and tonight was no different. Mr. 360 blasted 7 sixes in his unbeaten 44-ball 82. He went at a staggering strike rate of 186.36 as his knock helped post a total of 202/4.

The Aussie all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis has finally fired as he hammered 46 not out to compliment AB. His innings allowed ABD to play more freely.


2nd Innings: The Big Man Starts with a Bang

Chris Gayle blasted 99 not out in his last outing against his previous franchise, RCB. This time around, he struck 23 from just 10 balls as KL Rahul witnessed some brilliant shots from the non-striker’s end.

Agarwal and Rahul Pace Up the Innings

After Gayle’s departure, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal upped the ante as KXIP raised team hundred in quick time. Agarwal fell for a well-made 35 from 21 at the team score of 101/2 in the 10th over.

KL Rahul followed soon after as Moeen Ali removed him on 42.

Nic Pooran Slams Hard But KXIP Fall Short

The West Indian, Nicholas Pooran hit some lusty blows as his innings of 46 included 5 sixes. However, his knock wasn’t enough for KXIP to chase down a huge target of 203 as the hosts managed 185/7, losing by 17 runs.

Moment of the Match

The double breakthrough for RCB in the form of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul within the space of 6 balls shifted the momentum towards the hosts.

AB de Villiers won the man of the match award.
