IPL 2019: Match 20 - Royal Challengers vs Delhi Capitals (Post-Match)

In the 20th match of this year’s IPL – Royal Challengers vs Delhi Capitals, a four wicket haul from Rabada and a brilliant knock by Iyer earned Delhi an important victory as RCB lost their 6th consecutive match.

Match Report

Royal Challengers Bangalore have been a disappointment to say the least in this year’s IPL, losing all of their matches. Their rivals today, Delhi Capitals, are also not far off as they sit third last on the table. With both the teams looking to turn their fortunes around, Delhi sent in RCB to bat first.

1st Innings: Unsurprisingly disappointig

Captain Kohl and his team, scored a mammoth 206 last time around but they still managed to lose that match. He would have hoped for a similar batting display but the same old RCB turned out today, with the batsmen failing horribly. The only two stand outs were Kohli and Moeen Ali but the likes of AB and Stoinis went cheaply once agin.

Kohli hit two sixes and a boundary, continuing his fine batting form, as he scored a brilliant 41 off 33 before getting out to Rabada. Moeen Ali was striking the ball at a rate of 177 as he hit a massive 32 off 18 balls while hitting 3 sixes and a four.

Rabada demolishes RCB

If RCB were bad, Rabada was equally as good. He was going from strength to strength after that massive Super Over and he showed his class once again as he picked up 3 wickets in the 18th over.

He got Kohli, Nath and Negi in the same over as he demolished the RCB.

The RCB could only manage a total of 149/8 in their 20 overs as Rabada finished with figures of 4 for 21 in his 4.

2nd Innings: All too easy for the Capitals

RCB could not have imagined for a better start after Southee got Dhawan for a Golden Duck. Delhi, however, did not panic as Shaw struck Southee for 4 consecutive fours in his very next over.

He was joined by Iyer who also continued his fine run of form with the bat as the pair brought up their 50 run stand with fair ease.

Shaw got out to Negi for 28 but Captain Iyer found himself another brilliant partner in Ingram and the pair scored a blistering 40 run partnership between. The skipper also brought up his half-century as well.

DC found themselves in a bit of a score when they lost 4 wickets in quick succession, losing 3 in the span of two overs. However, the damage had already been done by Iyer before he fell for 67. Patel hit the winning runs as Delhi chased down the target with 7 balls and 4 wickets to spare.

Moment of the Match

The moment of the match has to be the brute of an over bowled by Rabada where he took wickets.

Man of the Match

Rabada was the man of the match for his superb bowling spell.
