Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 has kickstarted officially with the Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore opening match. RCB were at the receiving end as they got the drubbing at the hands of defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
The ‘Army of the Old’ – CSK, has once again proved the worth of experience by easily beating one of the strongest teams of this IPL, RCB.

IPL opener has got me thinking if RCB is the Lahore Qalandars of the IPL. No matter how big the players they rope in, they just don’t seem to get going. We all know how Lahore Qalandars performs pretty much every year, don’t we?
1st Innings – Spinners, Winners
MA Chidambaram Stadium is known to assist spinners but RCB batsmen looked totally out of sorts against the spin of Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, and Ravindra Jadeja. The trio shared 8 wickets between them, the only other wicket was bagged by Dwayne Bravo. One batsman was run out.
The slow bowlers spun a web as the hosts bowled out RCB for a meager 70 in 17.1 overs.
Not the ideal situation to be in. @parthiv9 pulls Bravo straight to Kedhar Jadhav. 70 all out. Not much to defend, but all it takes is one moment. Grab it, lads! We can still do this! Never surrender! Never back down! #PlayBold #VivoIPL2019 #CSKvRCB

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali, Shirmon Hetmyer and Colin de Grandhomme couldn’t get going the way fans expected them to.
2nd Innings – A Piece of Cake for Chennai Batters
A target of 70 was always going to be a walk in the park for a very sturdy batting lineup of Chennai. Despite the early blow of Shane Watson, the Chennai batsmen had it under control right from the start.
Chahal has Watson sent back in the pavilion.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina surpassed the magical 5,000 IPL runs mark tonight.

It was a matter of time before CSK got over the line and so they did in the 18th over, beating RCB by 7 wickets.
Moment of the Match
CSK captain, MS Dhoni knows how to go about things as he introduced Harbhajan Singh as an opening bowler. Despite his recent form – Harbhajan did not take any wickets in previous three T20s – the off-spinner removed Kohli early to make inroads. That, for us, was the moment of the match.
Man of the Match
Harbhajan Singh was Man of the Match award.
There will be two matches tomorrow. KKR to face SRH while MI will contest DC.
