Kolkata Knight Riders is not having an ideal season as they have faced consecutive losses in IPL. The most recent one being against Sunrisers Hyderabad today. However, it’s not just the embarrassing chain of losses of KKR which is hurting them. Now the team has faced another major setback as their foreign player Joe Denly has bid farewell to Kolkata Knight Riders to play county in England.
Denly announced his exit through a tweet from his official account.

Unfortunately, Joe Denly could just play one match for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing Vivo IPL 12 so far and was dismissed of the very first delivery he faced. He was given his first break by Kolkata Knight Riders during their home game against the Delhi Capitals and he was casted in the very first delivery of Ishant Sharma. He could make his debut only because regular openers Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine could not be part of the squad due to illness.
Denly who was sold for a base price of INR 1 Crore, went back to his home side to play county cricket. He will be representing Kent with whom Denly has long been associated with. The opening batsman did not get a chance to shine in IPL but one can expect him to get more chances in County cricket.
Nothing’s going well for KKR
Although KKR has roped in some of the best international players like Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, and Joe Denly yet nothing seemed to have worked in their favor. The team has suffered from four back to back losses and is now searching for a desperate win. Although Denly’s departure will not affect the squad greatly, in absence of Lynn or Narine, Denly could have proven to be an important player but it’s too late to speculate now because it’s the end of the journey for Joe with KKR.
