Cricbuzz bans PSL 2019 coverage and deleted all data

Many times we have heard that sports has no boundaries and it should be separated from rifts between countries. Many times we have seen that 2 countries might not be in good terms with one another but they have not stopped competing against each other in sports. But sadly, this is not the case between India and Pakistan and whenever there are any tensions between both the countries, the first thing they do is to cut the sport’s ties. How many times we have witnessed that sports and in particular, cricket suffers a lot. Many times India have refused to play against Pakistan in bilateral series due to ongoing tensions on the borders.

On February 14, a sad incident occurred in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir when a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber, resulting in the death of 40 security personnel and the attacker. While Pakistan immediately condemned the attack, India soon put the blame on Pakistan. A wave of anger raised in India with talks of starting a war with Pakistan also started. Cricketers also supported the voice especially Gautam Gambhir used some strong words.

In a recent event, one of the famous cricketing website – Cricbuzz bans PSL and removed all the data from their website following the Pulwama attack. It came as a shock and surprise as Cricbuzz is one of the leading cricketing platform, known for unbiased reviews and news. While the anger among Indian people is understandable, but stopping PSL 2019 coverage and removing all the relevant data is not a sensible response from the Indian based website.

Soon after Cricbuzz, another cricket news website CricTracker also announced that they are not going cover PSL anymore because of the Pulwama attack.
