On Friday 22, a high-level meeting of the Indian Cricket Board was held in New Delhi. It was attended by chief executive officer Rahul Johri and chaired by three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA). In the meeting, it was decided that the BCCI will formally request the ICC to ban Pakistan ask its cricket playing members to “sever ties with nations” who are harboring the terrorists.
Vinod Rai – chairman of Committee of Administrators (CoA) after the meeting told media:
“We are telling the cricketing community that in future they must sever ties with nations from which such terror emanates.”
This recent development came after The Board of Control for Cricket – BCCI in India had thought about the option of asking for a complete ban on Pakistan cricket team from the upcoming World Cup 2019, via a draft letter prepared on Wednesday.
Vinod Rai – chairman of Committee of Administrators (CoA), said that the letter to be sent to ICC would express the concerns of BCCI about the Pulwama attack. He further said that they would be telling International Cricket Council about “the security of players, officials, everybody else should be properly taken (during the World Cup).”
A question was asked from Vinod Rai about whether India will play against Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup 2019. The match is scheduled to be held in Manchester on June 16th. In response to this question, Vinod Rai said:
“June 16 is very far away. We will take a call on that much later and in consultation with the government.”
What happened in Pulwama Attack
That was in response to a sad incident occurred in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. A convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide-bomber. 40 security personnel and the attacker died in the attack.
PSL 4 coverage stopped by Indian channels
Some famous cricketing websites – Cricbuzz & CricTracker – also stopped the coverage of PSL 4 following this horrific attack and the major broadcaster of PSL 2019 – IMG also pulled out.
