Earlier, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that no channel will broadcast the Indian league in Pakistan. The Information ministry sent a summary to the Federal Cabinet for approval on Wednesday to bar channels from broadcasting the league.
Chaudry said that despite efforts to keep politics out of sports, Indian authorities have politicized the gentleman’s game and it is evident from donning military caps and banning PSL in India. Therefore, it was impossible to air IPL matches in Pakistan.
Earlier, Indian sports entity, D Sport had stopped airing PSL matches in India following the Pulwama incident however, it resumed the broadcast in the later stages of the league.
Is Pakistani side repeating the same mistake India did? The cricket fans in the country definitely want to see some good cricket, no matter if it’s on the other side of the border. Cricket has been known to bring the two nations together in times of crisis, however, it seems that the Pakistani government is firm in its stance to respond to Indian authorities’ rigidness in a strong way.
