It’s just been four days since PSL 4 has begun but the amount of talent we are witnessing is just unbelievable!  From some brilliant bowlers to some of the most amazing batsmen, PSL 4 has got no shortage of talent. However, it is the bowling department of each team which has just surprised us.

Here are our picks for the top 4 best emerging bowlers of the league so far.

1. Haris Rauf – Lahore Qalandars

A product of Lahore Qalandars player development program, Haris Rauf has stunned spectators with his extraordinary bowling ability. He came into the limelight when he turned a low scoring match against Karachi Kings in Lahore’s favor and literally pulled away a victory for his team single-handedly.

Rauf’s discovery story

He came to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to appear in trials conducted by Lahore Qalandars as part of their countrywide player development program. But due to a large number of aspiring cricketers present for the trials, he couldn’t give his trials in his hometown.

He traveled all the way to Gujranwala and appeared in trials there. The first ball he delivered was recorded at 148 km/h. That was enough for the coaches to pick him for Lahore Qalandars development squad.

He continued to show the amazing form in PSL too for his team.

2. Umar Khan – Karachi Kings

The 19 years old teen star, Umar Khan has made us a fan of his bowling. Its unreal to see Umar deceiving batting legend AB Di Villiers with his magical ball and getting a wicket too, It was the 12th over of Lahore Qalandars innings against Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League when captain Imad Wasim, handed the ball to Umer Khan to bowl against the most destructive batsman in the world, AB de Villiers and Khan struck.

Khan’s discovery story

Umer is originally from FATA but his family is settled in Taxila where his father repairs punctures on tyres.

Umer played junior level cricket for FATA and also in Taxila, his hometown, where he was spotted by former Pakistan Test cricketer Nadeem Khan who brought him to UBL for further training and the rest is history.

3. Ali Shafiq – Multan Sultans


After losing their first match, Multan Sultans made a remarkable comeback and defeated Islamabad United by five wickets in the fourth match of Pakistan Super League 2019.

All this was possible due to an awesome spell by emerging player Ali Shafiq. He took two crucial wickets in the match allowing his team to win.

Ali is a great find for Multan Sultans and belongs to a rural area in Pakistan; he has struggled a lot to reach this level and is now impressing critics with his performances.

Ali’s discovery story

Ali belongs to a remote area in South Punjab and always wanted to be a cricketer. He made his debut in the Quaid e Azam trophy in 2017-18 and then played for Lahore Blues in National T20 Cup. Due to his outstanding bowling ability, he got noticed by selectors of Multan Sultans and made it through.

Ali Tareen was all praise for Shafiq after his stellar performance against Islamabad United, he rightfully identified how PSL is producing some great talent.

4. Ibtisam Sheikh – Peshawar Zalmi

He made his first-class debut for Faisalabad in the 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on 9 October 2017. Ibtisam made his T20 debut for Peshawar Zalmi in the 2018 Pakistan Super League on 22 February 2018.

The 20 years old bowler has shown great form in both PSL 3 and PSL 4, he bowled a terrific spell in yesterday’s match against Lahore Qalandars.

Ibtisam’s discovery story

Ibtisam began playing with a tennis ball in a small school ground in front of his house in Hyderabad and picked up hardball cricket at the age of 13. He got into the inter-district Under-19 in 2014 and became third leading wicket-taker by getting 41 wickets overall in the tournament.

He later participated in the Quaid e Azam trophy where coaches of Peshawar Zalmi spotted him and picked him up in the emerging category in PSL 3.

5. Bonus Pick:  Fawad Ahmed – Quetta Gladiators

Although he does not originally play for Pakistan, Fawad Ahmed has entertained Pakistanis with his bowling in Pakistan Super League’s 4th edition. He plays for Australia and has recently shown great form in BBL. He initially did play for Pakistan but then moved to Australia.

He has recently been picked by Quetta Gladiators as a right arm leg spinner and Fawad has proven his selection right with his prolific performance.

He got crucial wickets against Islamabad United in the previous match which allowed Quetta to win the match.

Fawad’s discovery story

In 2013, Fawad made his debut for Australia against England in T20. Later on, he played for many famous clubs including Sydney Thunders and even showed his talent in domestic leagues like BBL (Big Bash). It was after giving out some great performances in domestic leagues that Fawad got selected for PSL 2019.
